Join Jeffery Redding, a former member of the Moses Hogan Singers (and recipient of the 2019 Music Educator Grammy Award), for an exciting look at the music of one of the most highly regarded spiritual composers ever… the incomparable Moses Hogan. You and your entire choral program will enjoy a one-of-a-kind, uplifting concert experience in world-famous Carnegie Hall!

The Music of Moses Hogan provides participating choral programs an in-depth overview of Moses Hogan’s dynamic, exciting spirituals. In spring 2021, your choir will work with Jeffery Redding to explore into Hogan’s well-loved choral music. The concert event includes 3 extensive collaborative massed choir rehearsals with Redding and an incredible concert performance in Stern Auditorium, Carnegie Hall! Plus, you’ll have plenty of time for sightseeing in NYC.

This event is open to all choral ensembles. Please join choirs from across the country in the “Big Apple” for this once in a lifetime experience! Here are the details:

Festival Inclusions (pre-trip preparation):
    • Festival chorus development and preparation assistance from COA’s staff
    • Professionally curated part tracks (mp3)
    • Rehearsal notes from the conductor, curated by COA’s Artistic Director, Christopher Scott Olin
    • Concert advertising and audience development
Festival Inclusions (pre-concert preparation):
    • Rehearsal venues in NYC
    • Three massed choir rehearsals (one dress) for each participating choir led by Jeffery Redding
    • Professional collaborative pianist for all rehearsals in NYC
    • Soundcheck at concert venue
Festival Inclusions (concert performance):
    • Professional production team for the performance (stage crew, house management, ushers, box office personnel, etc.)
    • Massed Choir Concert Performance of Moses Hogan’s music, curated by Jeffery Redding especially for this concert
    • Concert performance accompanied by professional instrumentalists and soloists (according to repertoire)
    • Perform an all-choir, world premiere spiritual from COA’s Composer-in-Residence, Rosephanye Powell, written especially for COA and this concert

    Wednesday, April 21, 2021 – Afternoon Rehearsal with Jeffery Redding
    Thursday, April 22, 2021 – Morning Rehearsal with Jeffery Redding
    Friday, April 23, 2021 – Dress Rehearsal, Sound Check, and Concert Performance with Jeffery Redding, choirs from across the country, and professional instrumentalists and soloists.
